If your battery does empty on you mid-cut and you forget to turn the switch off while swapping batteries, the anti-restart protection prevents the tool from suddenly reviving once a fresh battery is inserted. We appreciate this thoughtful safety feature from MAKITA.

Lithium ion batteries don’t handle complete depletion well. MAKITA addresses this vulnerability with a few tricks up its sleave. The included Rapid Optimum Charger establishes a constant channel of communication with the battery’s integrated chip and optimizes both voltage and current. Furthermore, it brings a dead battery to full capacity in less than 45 minutes.

Also, the Star Protection Computer Controls included in all LXT tools keeps a constant data link between tool and battery to prevent overloading, overheating, and excessive discharging from the battery. In the event that the system detects any threat of damage, it will shut off the tool to allow for a cool-down period or battery swap in an effort to protect the entire system. All of these innovative measure extend the life of both the batteries and the tool.

The Automatic Speed Change technology monitors the aggressiveness of your cutting or grinding operation. If the system detects a particularly grueling spot, it will flex a bit more to optimize speed and torque so that you’re not bogged down. In the event that the blade is forced to stop (which is unlikely), the system will shut off power to the disc to prevent any further damage to the tool.

At under 6 lbs, the XAG11T is very comfortable. The rubberized grip adds an extra measure of stability during tough grinding or cutting jobs. The soft-start feature allows for smooth start ups so that the tool doesn’t want to jump out of your hands. An electric brake stops the blade in a couple of seconds so you aren’t waiting for the 8,500 rpms to wind down on their own.

The handle can be mounted on the left- or right-hand side of the tool. We wish there was a top mount as well, which is really useful for some cutting operations.
