PORTER-CABLE ‘s 750 model fits well in the garage and can dutifully handle most cutting and grinding operations.  If some of the specs and features seem similar to the DEWALT 402, it’s because both units are made by the same parent company.  Like brothers, they resemble each other but have their own personality.

With 7.5 amps under the hood, the 750 presents respectable, yet average, power.  Tools spin at 10,000 rpm which ensures the toughest jobs can be confidently addressed with any tool attachment.

The 750 utilizes a trigger grip with a trigger lock.  This is helpful in preventing accidental start ups.  The body is comfortable in hand and the side handle is easily switched between its three positions.  The soft grip handle is comfortable.

PORTER-CABLE also includes a spindle lock for quick tool changes.  This is a standard but dated feature and we’ve seen other models incorporate single-hand tool changes that offer quicker tool changes.  Check out our comparison with competing models.

The 750 is light in hand at 3.5 pounds.  We didn’t feel any fatigue during long work sessions but the lighter weight doesn’t inspire much confidence when maneuvering around tough areas.  The lighter weight makes this unit a bit more prone to wandering.

Build quality is decent.  Our unit performed as expected, but some users reports more shoddy results.  Your mileage may vary but our experience was promising.

The price can’t be beat.  The PORTER-CABLE 750 is aggressively priced and presents a compelling addition to any garage.  Most units in this class are priced almost or over double what the 750 runs these days.

The 750 model angle grinder from PORTER-CABLE is a value win.  It may not have the performance or whistles of its cohorts but its rock-bottom price makes it a steal for anyone looking for a starter angle grinder that costs less than a family meal.
