Sporting 15 amps, the 6023 isn’t stingy with power. 5000 rpm isn’t leading nor laggard, so careful feed rates will avoid any performance issues. The unit is mobile while remaining particularly stable with its tubular construction. Despite clocking in at 77 lbs, the 6023 remains portable. The saw sits on its stand, rests in an existing table without the stand, or folds into its compact storage mode. The latter is particularly helpful for those of us without a dedicated shop space. Folding, rolling, and storing the 6023 takes only a handful of seconds.
Rip capacity is above average at 32-½”. This means the 6023 rips a full sheet of plywood with adequate support from the table surface. DELTA includes an impressive rack-and-pinion fence. We’re quite fond of this fence system, which is also found in the DEWALT 7845. Tabs along the rail allow for rapid fence relocation. Standard dado stacks are also accepted.
The included blade is the usual construction-grade affair. As with most other jobsite saws, we recommend spending a little extra on a Freud 60T Fine Finish blade. Another upgrade of interest is the miter gauge. The included miter gauge feels cheap with its plastic and metal construction. Consider upgrading to a more respectable, all-metal construction Incra MITERV27.
A standard 2-½” dust port accepts common hose attachments. Like most saws, dust ports alone aren’t enough to cut down on dust. A shop vac will be necessary to keep your space clean. Check out our shop vac recommendations.
Safety features include a riving knife, anti-kickback pawl, and blade guard.
